Isn’t it wonderful that tin/aluminum is the “gift” for 10th anniversaries & that our anniversary is next month. On Saturday, May 17th, Antiques Iowa will celebrate with 10 Hours of 10th Anniversary Fun! I am so grateful for the blessings that these last 10 years have given me. On that day, May 17th, we are going to collect canned goods for our local food pantry. We have a fun day planned & I will post a schedule of events on my Facebook page & website. The day will be about us giving back to YOU who made this celebration of 10 years possible.
May is also planting month. What is my hubby doing right now…planting corn & beans. What am I & my friends doing…planting in our gardens in vessels – galvanized, aluminum or enamelware or in this lovely, rich black soil here in IOWA? Tin/aluminum (old rusty metal containers) & plants…that just goes together like peanut butter & jelly! What did I do on Easter Sunday besides cook, eat, & enjoy family, I put in a berm with large rocks for grasses & fun stuff under our new sign…another area to plant. Ten years…how can that be? I started this wonderful Antiques Iowa antique mall when my kids were 16, 18 & 20 & they all worked here beside me in high school & college. Life isn’t a matter of milestones, but of moments. ~Rose Kennedy. This ten-year-life at Antiques Iowa has definitely been a made up of moments. So many great Dealers…some that have been with me since May 20th, 2004 & some that have touched my life for just a moment. Many that are now friends. I’ve been so honored to attend their weddings & funerals, sharing their everyday joys & sorrows & they, sharing mine. Ten years – they know me, my kids, my grandkids. My antiquing friends were there for me when I lost each of my parents with hugs & tears & just everything. I am grateful to know YOU!
Antiques Iowa was a dream… a network of great Dealers selling great stuff at reasonable prices on this Exit 124 at Story City. I grew up here & I wanted this. I could visualize it years before it happened. These past ten years, you’ve watched as we’ve doubled in size & made improvements. Believe in something larger than yourself. ~Barbara Bush.
